Professional Sound With External Devices Now Available, and More

A picture of an iPhone with SubJam, broadcasting live.

Apple / iOS v1.0b43 brings a couple of pivotal features to Subjam:

  • External audio device support: Test with your iRig or other devices connected to high quality sound sources (mixers, microphones, etc). This allows exceptional sound quality for your broadcasts.
  • VU meter and volume gain slider: See how hot your levels are and adjust accordingly. This gives great visual feedback, even pre-broadcast, both with and without an external audio device connected.

These are indeed big features.

External device support has been a sparkle in Subjam’s eye since it was called Cool Mic. One of my biggest goals was always to have truly awesome, pure, direct sound – not just from the device’s microphone.

This allows Subjam running on an iPhone/iPad/MacOS to be used in professional settings such as venues, and practice/recording studios with musicians playing directly through mixing consoles.

In addition, SubJam now offers visual feedback of your broadcast signal, as well as control over it, with a VU meter and volume/input slider! These are essential functions of a truly usable live broadcasting and recording app.

Imagine the potential we now give independent artists to share their moments with the world—with not only beautiful direct  sound, but with the amazing Ogg/Opus audio codec which delivers that beautifully encoded digital audio to you at lightning speeds.

Enjoy 🙂

Cheers, Jordan
